Exterior Construction Contractors
by Supply Install Services
Renovating the exterior of your home should be a positive experience. You should have full confidence in your renovator and know that you are getting the best! Below is a list of the top ten things you should look for when choosing an exterior construction contractor for your home.
1) From Start to Finish. A professional contractor will guide you through your project, including ideas, design and products, from the concept for the exterior to the completion.
2) Experienced Advice. The heart of their business is getting you the best of all worlds – a renovation that suits your family, your home and your budget. They listen, make suggestions and look for the best way of completing your exterior project.
3) Technical Know-How. In the end, the success of your exterior project depends on the skills of your contractor. Professional contractors understand exterior construction, how to deal with challenges and problems, and how to improve the comfort of your home.
4) Expert Teamwork. Behind every professional contractor, there is a solid network of staff; sub-trades and suppliers ready to go to work for you.
5) A Proven Track Record. Their business is an open book. You can talk with past customers, look at previous exterior work and check out the renovator’s reputation.
6) Accurate Estimates. No need to be concerned about low-ball costing, inferior work or escalating prices once the job begins. Experienced contractors know what it takes to do something right and how much it costs, and they tell you up front.
7) A Written Contract. Trust alone is not enough; professionals back it up with a written contract that spells out your exterior project in detail-what, how, who, when and how much.
8) Liability insurance and WCB. Better safe than sorry. In the unlikely event of an accident or damage to your own or neighboring property, a professional renovator’s coverage protects you from liability and cost.
9) Warranty. Like any other purchase, a professional renovation comes with a warranty on labor. And with professional installation, there is no risk of voiding the manufacturers’ warranties on materials and products.
10) Service, Service, Service. Professional contractors are in business for the long term. They strive to make every exterior renovation a pleasant and successful experience. Your satisfaction is their best proof the they did it right.

Basement Sub Floor
I have collected a number of I Beams that I would like to turn on their side and use as a base for my sub-floor in the basement. I would lay down the beams so that there would be a space the same width as the beams between each beam laid down. I would then put a 5/8ths tongue and groove osb board on top. My Question is should I put a plastic barrier down first or don't worry about it? Also, I was going to use a PL 400 glue to secure the beams to the cement. My basement has never leaked water and was built in 1998. What is the best way to prepare the I beams and secure them to the floor? Read the answer »
