replacing fluorescent light

I would like to take down a fluorescent light and replace it with a normal light, hanging light. The problem is in the fluorescent fitting -- it is a junction box, not round oblong. Removing ceramic tile and preparing to install Lino

Exterior Insulation

I just bought a house built in 1954 and am getting a new energy efficient furnace. The original windows, I will be replacing as well as the exterior siding. A friend of mine who has done home renos for a long time advises against exterior insulation. He talks of a vapour barrier, having too much moisture in the house that has no where to escape and the ramifications that this can cause(eg. mould). What is your view on this?
